Mayumi Okubo was born and raised in Tokyo.

Her pseudonym is 白光 BYAKKOU.

Her drawing was influenced by the sculptor

uncle Takashi Okubo since her childhood.

She attempts to create works that "link heaven

and earth " based on actual events,

things actually witnessed as well as those

appear in dreams.

She visited museums all over the world on her

own, and studied painting at China Academy

of Art in Hanzhou, China.

"The sound of withered lotus" has recieved

honorable mention by the National Art Center

Tokyo in 2011.

She moved in Fukuoka after Great East Earthquake in 2011

she started drawing "Amulet Painting" for over 200 people.

She is creating original artwork that shines with the light of

happiness and is based on a theme of "drawing in water."

She stack transparent resin on multiple levels and uses spring

water and holy water for materials.

At times, she use the blur of paint to express the form of a

dragon or the glow of a soul.

Byakkou depicts the world of "Kissho" which brings happiness

to people as she continues to pursue her own expression of

beauty that is not tied down to any genre.

A dazzling energy dwells in her work that pleasantly stimulated

the five senses of a viewer.

We sincerely hope that you will enjoy the wonderful world created

by this artist.
